EuLE (2008 – 2011)
EuRegional Spatial Analysis
The cross-border region between Salzburg and Bavaria is steadily developing into a common economic-, working- and living environment. Most of the relevant information concerning regional planning is available either for Bavaria or Salzburg, but not for both states. Increased cooperation in various topics, such as sustainable regional development, transport- and infrastructure planning, is an important requirement in order to jointly master future challenges. In cooperation between public authorities, planning agencies and the policy-makers from Bavaria and Salzburg the Interreg IV A project aims at developing an implementation-oriented baseline for decision-making processes using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). An indicator-based data pool is being developed through collaboration with municipalities in order to strenghten mutual awareness of the EuRegional area and to adress essential topics of future relevance (e.g. joint sustainable regional development, expansion of public transport). The project results will facilitate for instance the planning of suburban train stops and the evalu-
ation of infrastructure in residential areas.
