Division Integrated Spatial Analysis
Spatial analysis generates new information by harvesting, combining, and integrating geospatial data. Purpose-driven processes provide domain-specific information conditioned towards user requirements, supporting critically important spatially explicit decisions. ‘Integrated Spatial Analysis’ (ISA) applies innovative technologies for spatial decision support and policy implementation. GI-related methods and tools are adapted within the fields of landscape and urban analysis, water and environmental management, crisis and conflict prevention, disaster risk reduction as well as climate change adaptation – all aiming at a sustainable future.
A specific methodological focus is the integration of geospatial data and current satellite image derived via object-based image analysis (OBIA). ISA facilitates a systemic understanding of multi-scale, multi-dimensional spatial phenomena and their impact on the environment and society. External drivers with a global dimension such as climate change, natural disasters, resource scarcity, energy consumption, etc. require a synthetic spatial approach. Thus we integrate new approaches of information extraction with well established spatial concepts. We structure and visualize, communicate and disseminate spatial information products to reveal the inherent meaning of large spatial data collections.
